DVLA how long to wait

I sent my docs back at the begging of September with photos before during and after the build and a invoice for the kit and the purchase of the car. I had a letter 3 weeks ago asking for a invoice for the kit, photos and a receipt for the car purchase and photos with the reg plate on the car wich I returned the day after. now nothing how long should it take and can we complain to them I waiting on a letter asking for proof again:attention:

It will take forever, and if you complain or ask questions, it can take longer than that, as this always confuses them...............

They are a total shambles and all seem to do their own thing, making up the rules as they go along. Now that the local offices have gone all you can do is post it off and wait. If you complain they will probably put you to the bottom of the pile!
How can it take six weeks for a road fund licence refund and don't even think about cherished plate transfers. They tell you to keep your old car until the plate has been transferred to your new car and the paperwork is returned, but not many of us can afford to keep both cars when you are trying to just upgrade your car and then if you have no where off road, both must be taxed, insured and mot'd. In the old days it was all done with one visit to a. local office. Now it seems to be weeks.
Sorry rant over!

Mine came back in about 4 weeks. I sent the invoice plus half a dozen pics showing the transformation plus a link to here!

They sent a nice letter back saying they will change the colour on the v5c but cannot rename it to anything else as it wouldn't be a model bmw made!

At least I've a letter saying I tried and that they are happy. :)

Giving the DVLA a link to this forum was not the best idea you could have come up with.

If they read half the comments about themselves that we all write, the situation can only deteriorate.

So the only bit i need to fill in is colour being Ruby Red. Excellent, its getting easier.

True but if tribute had a decent website I wouldn't have had as much trouble describing it. Do you really think they bothered looking anyway?

I have yet to do my paperwork in this area, but I do not really care what those morons come up with blueface, at the end of the day, what is written on a V5c in our case is not really that important at all.

Sure, its nice if we get exactly what we want, but its how your car looks, handles, and feels that counts.

Whatever they decide goes on the form makes no difference to that.

I agree I don't care what they want to call it if they wish to send a letter say we can not change the name that will do. if PC plod pus me over saying that's not a mx5 at least I can say yes tell me about it read this. would it be ok with the insurance would they only pay out for a 500 quid mx when we all put 5k into build the mx250.

Fair point. I insured mine as a kit car even before I started the build so have it on the insurance cert that its a BMW Tribute Cobra. Dear knows what way that would go if I do have an accident though!

Mine took over 4 months, and a couple of phone calls but it is called a Mazda MX250 spyder now.
