Just realised I've cut out the front side light...

Try pushing it back on the passenger side and pulling it forward on the drivers side. It won't need much, a few mm, at the hinge end but it will make a big difference at the front of the car.

You're making good progress. Are those connectors in the steering rack just plastic plugs ? If they are then replace them with metal ones or fit an oil cooler, that's probably what the ports are for....
