I assume it's the bottom rear stabiliser you're talking about. Attached is a photo of the old way Marlin had it (on the K-series demonstrator), so I can see why they might want to change it. And yes...

On mine (factory built), the link attached to the motor is approx 7.5cm overall with the pivots approx 5.5cm apart. It gives a full sweep of the screen.
