Whilst I've agreed with you on the whole, I don't think an MOT is any more rigorus in checking brakes than IVA. In fact, The barage of tests thrown at my braking system during IVA was far and away more stringent than the pre IVA MOT I had.

My Calipers where / are 24 years old and they passed fine. I had of course refurbished them with new seals and covers, so they should be as new.
