Having now done a bit of reading up on the painting side of this, i've personally decided to opt for a Cellulose paint as it's easiest for me to home spray, and given the age of the car it's still legal although it does limit the colours that i can go for.
I have also already started filling and sanding the body tub and i can see what Mulberry means by the need to wash the body first!
Flooring wise i've come across these people who seem to do bulk rolls of rubber matting at quite reasonable prices.
