Tony, I don't think that you have your inner wing panels fitted correctly. Have a look at these pictures. The notch is to let the panel tuck under the lip on the MX5 bulkhead panel. Don't "bond" anything on the front, only screw or bolt, so that the front can be removed in case of windscreen issues. Please let me know if you need any more info.
