Clamshell front and rear would make access for maintenance much easier.
I've been very grateful for my fully opening bonnet (engine out to replace clutch; cam changed with motor in situ; radiator removed/replaced at least a dozen times; etc; etc), and I could've done with a clamshell back end for better access to the rear spring, which I've also messed with at least three times.
If I built another it'd have clamshells both ends.
