The Resin/ Zylene based stuff is not porous, it is also more of a treatment system, this is what is used to paint bridges, steel beams in construction etc.
Personally I would never advise driving a car in primer of any sort for any length of time. more so at this time of year, I have seen so many paint jobs ruined because of this.

The one we get from the paint suppliers must be this type then. It says on the tin non-porous to water ingress.
