Thank you for your enquiry. If you have the full original loom with the engine you choose, and we assume the original loom from the new engine will be installed in the pickup, rather than use an ECU adapter loom it would be much simpler/neater to re-use the QEM engine loom and modify that to fit the K6 ECU connector. The excess BMW wiring can then be removed.

Some simple additional wiring would be needed to finish the installation, e.g. power/ground, ignition controlled supply, tacho signal, fuel pump relay control, etc. The end result would be an OEM BMW wiring on the engine side but customised to suit that vehicle. Wiring instructions and pinout chart would come with the ECU. You would need to identify the wires on the original loom, add the new terminals supplied with our ECU and insert them into the Emerald loom plug following the chart.

If you are worried about the wiring side of things that is something we could do here.

We would need a picture of the original BMW ECU connector and the engine code to confirm, when an order is placed.

Cost is normally £595+vat for the K6 ECU which includes software, maps & manual on CD, serial comms lead plus loom plug & pins set with instructions and pinout chart, plus shipping £12.50+vat. All original BMW sensors & coils etc. will be compatible. Wiring/installation is normally done at an hourly rate, so if you decide not to do it yourself you could call and discuss it with Keith here. The K6 ECU comes preconfigured and loaded with a good startup map.

Once the installation is complete and the engine is running we do the mapping here at a flat rate of £375+vat - £450.

Up to three maps are done according to how you will be using the vehicle, i.e. full power/race map, economy, alternative fuel/driver/limited, MoT, or as an immobiliser with no fuel above idle. Cold starts are done after the main hot map. We can help remotely via Team Viewer when you are ready to start the engine, if you do the installation yourself.

Any questions, please feel free to ask or give us a call.

Best regards
