Default Remote and stop/start help

Hi guys
My donor Z3 came with only one key and that did not work the locks with the buttons. I took it to bits and it has been butchered with bits of foil glued in place. It’s obviously not going to work.
Question is do I go to bmw and get ripped off buying two keys with remotes or is there a cheaper aftermarket solution? I quite like the idea of a start button instead of ignition key too.
Any advice ?
Thanks

There are plenty of push start button kits around but the majority still require a key. I expect a full replacement will be fairly costly.
Your key could well have a transponder for an immobiliser integrated also, i'll admit to knowing nothing about the z3. Maybe you could look into a new alarm/immobiliser system . I remember the old clifford ones were modular and you could add or remove bits like intellistart, full closure etc. There may even be one which can replace your key all together. Just a thought.

When I took the key to bits there is a transponder to immobilise the car so I will have to incorporate that in the solution.
Thanks
