Default 15" wheels and calipers

Hi, This has been discussed before and I did not think that the mgzr calipers would fit under Rover 15" wheels (or not all of them anyway)

But was told they would so today I bought some and guess what????

They dont fit......not even close

Must be a pretty spatially compromising spoke on the Rover wheels, as Ford and VW OEM wheels will accept 280mm discs and fist style caliper.

Hi Craig.

What 15" wheels do you have? Seen 282mm setup go under turbo rims (15") with a light trimming of the carrier and caliper. Which I have a set of here in the garden you could have tried.

Thanks John, never thought about anyone having spares I could have borrowed!

I have spent about 3 hours on this today and have taken about 8mm off the carrier and about 8-9mm off the back of the alloy itself as the carrier would have been compromised imo if I had taken much more off.

I will post pics later as the the wheel now spins ok but the wheel nuts dont fit I spoke to someone at rover and they said they are all the same......well these ones clearly arn't. Again pics to follow

If anyone has any nuts that will fit mine that I could borrow for a few weeks

Hi Craig.

What are the wheels off of? I have some spare nuts that are for the turbo alloys. Should fit yours, but I can check the EPC to check them.

Hi Craig.

I've sent you an email. I've also posted on RoverTech to see if anybody can help.

Hi Craig.

The guys on RT have come back with a result. The wheels are called Phoenix Alloy wheels.

You can see them here.

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/pdf/mgro...soryImages.pdf

Rimmer bros might even sell the wheel nuts???

The guys said any 200/400 wheel nuts would do. Apart from the ones you have! It might have to be from a mk3 Rover???

Hi Craig.

I have just noticed, that BigRich has the same wheels as you on his 5EXI.

He maybe able to explain or post a picture of the correct nuts to use.

Never thought that (refrained)** wheel nuts would be so hard to get!!

Even been to scrap yards but none of the cars had wheel never mind nuts!

rimmer bros want £8 per nut and mg rover want nearly £11 per nut so x by 16 would be £128 plus postage and £171 plus postage, respectively!

Does anyone else think this is a total fucking rip off??

Hi Craig,

Look on Ebay, they usually have lots for sale. For example:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-25-MGZR-...3286.m14.l1318

Item number: 120281214176

Hope this helps.

Regards

Mike
