flywheel arrived from the states , had to modify it a bit to accept clutch , made adaption plate to join bmw v12 to un1 gearbox and test fitted engine in chassis ..... now question...

do the drive shafts need to be straight ? sounds a silly question as they move constantly but the engine is very tight against the bulk head and the output shafts are about 3" back from the hubs

also seen some ppl put the fuel tank in the front rather then the rear , I have room above the gearbox , any reasons why these would be a bad idea ?

I have looked at the driveshafts of quite a few usually there is a slight offset. I guess ideally straight is best but I wouldnt think there is too much to worry about. Ref the tank, usually there are 2, one each side of the rear wheels with a pipe joining them. Access to the gearbox would be compromised if you put it on top, thats the only thing I can think of and also the fact that it would raise the center of gravity on the car. I have never seen one in the front personally but apart from a long fuel run probably would be OK too.
Cheers Ian

thanks ian , I have a modified rear set up witch leaves very little space for the "L shaped tanks" , don't really want fuel in front of me but also don't want more weight behind the back wheels ? mmm need more hours starring at it I think
wouldn't have these problems with a v8 !!! lol

it looks like you could fabricate one or two tanks within the spaceframe around the gearbox area. What about long tanks in the sills as per the GT40 replicas as well.
