Default 5EXI R

Hi everyone

Popped down to Marlin yesterday to collect my body and a few other bits and pieces.

Had a great time, Mark, Terry and the guys always make you so welcome.

Noticed Mark had 5EXi and 5EXiR written on the side of his car. It was no good I had to know what is an 'R' I strode into the ...... the ..... workshop my heart a pounding with anticipation, there standing in the corner a chassis ..... with... with.... just the side sections fitted and ... and.... it was obvious............ DOORS!!!!

My son immediately made the comment 'the wimps only model'!

A whole new market for the EXi, good business for Marlin but I ask all members not to tell my wife or I'll end up having to build another wimp version myself!!!

Regards to all members

Don't you just hate it when people continue developing a car after you have bought one!

Yes doors would be nice, but after all I could have bought a kit with doors, yet still I chose the Marlin.

I agree it will open it up to a wider market though.

hi all

I also was down at marlin the weekend and saw the doors in progress. mark is hoping to have them finished enough to display at exeter next month. talking to him, you would be able at a later date be able to swop over to doors by buying the two new side panels and a little modding to your chassis. Perhaps It would cheer you up a bit, that if you have doors on your car it will cost you an aprox £1000. Bit costly to avoid a muddy foot print on your seat.

Mark and Terry told us about the new 'with doors' variant last month when we visited the factory. This was after we told them about our reservations about it being doorless (ladies modesty etc). We were however asked if we would keep quiet about it untill they had finalised the decision to go a head or not. Terry called me today to say they was.
So we will be going for that version.

Hi people,

I was at the Marlin factory recently and there will also be a Honda powered variant...discussions with Mark reveal a new engine install (from a S2000 or Civic Type R) is under development.

I wonder if that would retro-fit???

With a supercharger of course!!!

:-)
