Can't quite make out the thickness of the ply but I found 3mm was easy to work with but not strong enough if you were to push against it - like you might on the centre bit between the seats when getting in and out of the car. I would put extra bracing there.

Or as Bobby Thompson, a famous north east comedian, once said when his wife challenged him over a snapped carrier bag handle while en route to their Blackpool boarding house for the 'miner's fortnight', "Why I'm nee engineer ya knar!"

i got a bit fed up today with the gear gator so went to the pub instead.
if im not too hungover in the morning il have another go at it.

Does anyone know of anywhere where i can get some 'car carpet' from? i tried Franks factory flooring but they only had 'house' carpet that would seem hard to shape?!

Have you seen the miner's convalescence home in Blackpool where Bobby Thompson and other acts would have played?

It's next door but one to where my in-laws live (they had Hotels in Blackpool until they retired about fifteen years ago) -

Absolutely stunning building, almost a shame it's luxury flats now.

car carpet is very different to house carpet. I picked mine up at the Beaulie auto jumble.

CBS do it : http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/search?q=carpet

Have a search on ebay for gel backed car carpet. You can mould it to shape to create a nice oem style finish.

They do carpets and trim stuff, might be worth a look?

Few more pics after a wax.....

Just a few jobs left to be done and it will be going on ebay. Got it booked in to get a headliner put in, re-carpeted and dash leathered. will be droping it off this weekend and picking it up the weekend after.

Ebay link to follow.....

A stunning looking car Danny! Really nice.

Have you considered making a gear gate out of thick alumnium?

That would be a lot of work but I should think worth the resulting end product.

Mainly a conversation with the wife about me having too many cars! but we are re-locating to spain so im looking for a LHD either z3 or z4 to do a tribute kobra conversion on but for some reason a LHD in the Uk seem to be a fortune! left hookers used to be cheaper because no one wanted them but now it seems like you can sell them for twice what they are worth!

Spain sounds great.

UK second hand cars are really cheap so there is a big market exporting 10 to 15 year old cars, quite a recent change.
