Angry quick shift

hi can anyone explain how a quick shift works please and would it stop a problem i have going from 1st to 2nd sometimes it wont go in i have to go into 3rd as you can imagine i feel a complete pratt burning away in 1st then the revs go from 6000 to 3000 in 3rd its a type 9 sierra gearbox thanks

A quick shift gearstick has the ratio of the movement at gearbox end off the gearstick changed in relation to gear knob end, resulting in a smaller movement at the knob end. The effect is to require a bit more effort in changing gear. Its not a lot and you soon get used to it.

However if you have a problem selecting 2nd then I don't think a quick shift will cure the problem.
