Default Off to Marlin for body work

Hi guys.

Well the time has come for the body work to be fitted. I decided that I wanted Marlin to fit the bodywork. So I thought I would share a few photos with you.

Looking good John!
I take it that you are having a red or yellow car?

When will you get her back?
When are you planning sva?

Well done mate

Hi Craig.

No it's going to be black with hints of red.

Not sure how long it's going to take. Not in any hurry for it back. Probably looking about 2-3 weeks.

Ah the SVA. Not sure how much work there is when she comes back. But hoping and aiming for Stoneleigh on the road.

Hopefully get a 1000 miles under her belt (engine still running in) then aim for a track show (Brands or Donny)

Feels like a big mile stone reached.

Default bodywork

Hi John,
It looks a little pink in the first photo mate, but I see from the second shot it is actually red, phew!!
Good luck with it anyway John, hope you're on the road soon.

What finish is the dash?

It looks quite effective.

Have you put a top aluminium layer to give you a cockpit floor?

Yep it's certainly red. I used (or the other half used) red leatherette. Hopefully be durable, none reflective in the sun and easy to wipe down. A pain to do though.

I'm aiming for Stoneleigh for her to be on the road.

Thanks very much for you help with the clutch. It works a treat.

Yep sandwich the floor with 5mm Ally. Did not know how to fix the seats and had no wielding experence. So this was my solution. Adds weight but has a solid fixing for the seats.

Well did not come without it's problems.

Two days ago, while cablet tieing like mad, cable tied a coolant hose. This then decided to leak all over Marlins floor. Has been ok before. If your reading this Marlin, please accept my apologies.

Final test around the block before loading onto trailer, with all the excitement, forgot to secure rear electrial cabling for the rea lights. Came back to find loads ok stripped wires.

The trip down was an absolute nightmare. Constantly stopping and retieing car cover ( as the rain was not letting off).

Got to Marlin expect the worse when I removed the cover. The only thing worse for ware was a broken ignition key with the spare bent to hell (Have no idea how this happened).

Well on a good note, see the bodywork ready for fitment.

Good to see another exi coming together you sound just as excited as Nick and I are about getting ours back soon, hopefully.

Black and Red will look very good, and different which will be good, even though Pink and Carbon Fibre would look rather nice to.

well done

Jon

It is something that John might be doing for the show this year.

There are a lot of Madabout forum users that would like to show there cars.

Have a look at the 'Stoneleigh list' thread in general chat

Hi Jon.

There was two Green race ones at Marlin when I was there. They both looked great. See Steve's one as well. After the problems and agro coming down, it was nice to see some exi's. Worth the trip. Though it's nice to see the blue demo car, I get a thrill seeing other builders car's.

I'm hoping for Stoneleigh.. But I don't know the journey ahead, not sure what will be left to do and how long this will take. As you guys know with the kit cars, how long is a piece of string. Hopefully not too long.

Was hoping for Donny or Brands (June), but engine running in. So need to get 1000-1500 under her belt so don't think it will be ready for the track.

Depending on when you go to colect there should be 3 green cars visable, as ours should have the body on it, unless we have it back, not sure if you may have seen ours down there, not sure how much they have done yet,but would have been noticable if it was on wheels.

If you aim for it, it might happen but like you say how long is a piece of string. when my dad built his V8 Sportster it took 5years from buying the donor to registering it, so that a very long string.

Would be nice to see it a Llandow in July if you could make it, and have they miles on the clock, thats our aim but looking very difficult, with the time & money left.

Hi Craig.

Oringinally bought a pair off ebay. But arrived with a cracked head lamp lenses (quote from peugeot £85). And buyer said he could not claim insurance.

So what I ended up doing was buying another pair from hear:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-206-Qu...QQcmdZViewItem

Very good price. And I have some spare if any of the lenses smash.
