Default Turbo Charging The BMW 5.0 V12

Would like to find out if anybody has actually maged to do this successfully yet. I have heard people talking about it, saying they can do it. But does anybody actually have this engine running with a turbo.

Would like to do this to my own engine which is in a Diablo kit, but I dont know enough about the turbo charging to do the research. I need to follow the sucess of somebody else.

Let me know.

It has been done successfully and there are few threads and videos out there of V12 Twin turbos running as well as supercharged:

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?n...ight=v12+turbo - super charged

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_6OedKNUX8

Have a look here for picture of a pair of turbo manifolds:

Not seen any indepth build threads but there may be some out there

Have a chat with this guy: http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...read.php?t=933

He's fitting a BMW V12 to this. Think he already has turbo's fitted.

Where the hell do you get one from? which car did it come from?

It's obviously of the same vintage as the M20 lump, as it seems to have the same distributors on each bank...

In fact, I'd guess that whatever that enging is, it started life on the drawing board as two M20s bolted together!

I didn't follow all of the other thread - did he hook it up to the standard 318 gearbox and diff? It must put out a hell of a lot of torque....

I think if you put that in a sportster, there would have to be some interesting modifications to the engine bay panels - some long, aerodynamic blisters either side of the bonnet...

750i Basically it's an M20 with twice as many cylinders

I think the main problem with the Sportster would be the diff mounting, not sure it could take all that torque!

Nah, just weld an RSJ behind the seats and longer diff bolts should do it!

I fancy the 'aero blisters' on the bonnet to cope with the turbo's each side.
I think rivetted on, would look really cool additions

tee hee, that should do it! I'm tempted to drop a M62 into the Sportster in a few years time should be enough room for that N/A. Driving an 840Ci Sport today that steams a long even though it weighs 2 tonnes!

hey they look really nice and maybe a nice V8 burble with the right exhaust......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:BMW_M62TUB44.JPG

I see they use those in the Morgan Aero 8.
I wonder if anyone has fitted one to a Sportster yet?
Any e30's with these fitted?

I better stop dreaming and get on with finishing my car first

quite a few E30's with the M62 out there. There's a guy called Glen on E30Zone who dropped the E39 M5 V8 into his E30!

Wiesmann use the M62 in one of their cars (or a newer version of it).

I'm twin turbocharging the M70... not finished it yet but have all the bits and am using a Motec M800.

I know a guy in the states who has an 850 that he fitted twin turbos to, with no other mods it did 540ft lb at the wheels... he didn't open the engine at all just bolted on the turbos added an intercooler and remapped the std ecu (piggyback I think).
