After looking around I bought the best donor I could find. Its actually so good Im going to look mad (again) stripping it.

Do any threads on here cover Z3 stripping?


IM really excited about this one and will be building two kits at once as my MEV is still ongoing

Pages 2&3 of my build thread have some pictures. I think the basic principle is

Select a panel to remove
Look all around the edges for bolts and screws and remove them
Carefully disconnect and label any wires
Lots of photos of every step to post up here as a strippers guide for the future

Hammy one weekend will do it , but you will need a second pair of hands for the bonnet and the soft top , front and rear lights sell really well , also the bonnet , all the best Geoff .

If you don't like the domed side repeaters then I used Ford Transit Connect side repeaters. Available in orange or white.

Brilliant to see the 2 Kobras at Stoneleigh, totally sold on it! Now to finish my MEV and find an alternative Z3 donor

Got my 2.8 donor with some very cool mods to the engine, suspension and q shift gearbox.





I cleaned and renovated the hood this weekend and the results are superb. It may sound odd but if you want to remove all signs of dirt and mildew then avoid off the shelf stuff and do what I did after following a thread on cardetailing.com

1- Scrub roof with detergent
2- Rinse thoroughly
3- Soak hood in white wine vinegar
4- liberally sprinkle baking soda/ bicarbonate of soda over hood.
5- spray with more vinegar and leave for 4 hours
6- using a soft cloth and a mild bleach/water mix (1-10) wash hood
7- rinse thoroughly (or as I did rinse and go to car wash)
8- Allow to dry and view the amazing results
9- If you want to (I did) wipe in some roof dye with a soft cloth

Sounds crazy and a bit Jamie Oliver but the thing with cleaning mould is that its a living thing and comes back if you just clean it off.
Photo above is pre cleaning and the mildew is visible.

PS. A great mod for the 2.8 is a 325 inlet manifold, it has larger ports and adds significant BHP especially when coupled to a good induction kit like the K&N I fitted this weekend

Presumably you then threw it into an oven at 190 degree for 2 hours before enjoying it with a glass of Chianti?

You cant drink Chianti with a car like this! Must be Tequila and no it was 180 deg

Easy to do apparently (mine was done already) and the K&N was ebay £65 the inlet manifold check with a beemer breakers

The air filter is unlikely to add much unless you have an effective CAI.
There are manifolds for sale on eBay. Be careful that you're getting the correct manifold and not being conned with a 323 or 328 one. It's not a straight swap as some pipe work changes and a couple of extra brackets are required. I'll post a useful link later.
The increase in power comes with a decrease in low down torque.
A remap will liberate most benefit with the manifold. All the above together with an M3 exhaust manifold will give you 240bhp.

Correct, I may have been a bit nonchalant there but having modified many engines I call that straightforward for the power increase. Naturally you need CAI but I thought that went without saying.
