Default Links to useful info for Sammio, Ribble & Miglia builders...

Welcome to the "Sammio Builds" section of the MadAboutKitCars forum.

I hope the information in this thread will provide a better understanding of the various builds in this section…

Brief Company History

2010
Gary Janes (Forum usernames = Lancelot Link, El Primer & The Shadow) started the Sammio company in Poole, Dorset.
Together with Mike Hughes (mikmiglia), Gary developed the initial range of Sammio kits (Spyder, Chevaux, G-46 & Cordite).

2012
Andy Powell (Username = AndyP57) bought the bulk of the Sammio range.
Whilst Gareth Davies (GazDavies) took over the G-46 kit.

2013
Andy renamed his company "Ribble Kits and Classics" and production moved to Preston, Lancs.
Mike set up his own company, "Automotive GRP Solutions" in Poole to sell the Miglia Speedster.

Note:
The Speedster was developed from a Sammio Cordite kit, which caused some "issues" at the time.
So it was at this point that a separate "Miglia Builds" forum was set up & treads transferred from here to there.

"And so it came to pass that two new kit car companies rose from the ashes of the original one."

2014
Mike Moore (mickey1mo) of Replica Rides in Swindon became the new Ribble/Sammio owner.

2015
Chris Welch (Tribute Automotive) announced Tribute will be the new producers of Miglia Speedsters from 2016.

As you can see there has been a number of significant changes over the years.

Historic Sammio Model Range:

Sammio Spyder
This was the original kit that started this whole section of the forum off.

It can be built using either a Triumph Herald, or Triumph Vitesse donor car.

It remains the biggest selling Sammio model by a country mile (150+).

Note: This model was renamed the Ribble Pilot for a while.

Current Status: - Body shells and bonnets are available.
( You will have to sort out your own internal framework / support structure. )

Sammio Chevaux
A variation of the original kit adjusted to fit a Citreon 2CV.

Current Status: - Body shells and bonnets are available.
( Again, you will have to sort out your own internal framework / support structure. )

Sammio G-46
Based on a Reliant Scimitar SE5.

Current Status: - Unavailable.
( As a significant reworking of the original moulds would be required before production could resume. )

Sammio Cordite
Based on a Triumph Spitfire.

Production of this particular kit was halted following the take over of Sammio by Ribble.

Ribble Navigator
The original Sammio Cordite body shell was then re-worked and relaunched as this new model.

Current Status: - No longer offered, as moulds were destroyed.

Future Sammio Model Range:

There is a lot of ongoing development work taking place for the next generation of Sammio kits...

A1 ALPHA
Triumph Spitfire based.

Current Status: - A demonstrator should be available in time for the 2016 Stoneleigh show.

Leighton
Citreon 2CV based.

Current Status: - Being developed for both 3 & 4 wheeled options.

Moss Monaco

Current Status: - Customer car being built with a view to taking a mould when completed.

I think that brings all the basic information up to date, but other areas still need a bit of updating.

So bear with me as I try to improve this thread as best I can, cheers, Paul.
