Hi Graeme,
It has a jag V12 5.7 and a man 5 speed. Which he just had re-built.It was priced to sell at 19 grand as he was going to Hong Kong for work. Probably the same problem as over here too old to be imported. Someone got a good deal. I was so close to having an engineer friend to go and look at it. Then my dream was shattered.

Is the red lambo in the film a real one? or is it the replica for sale? Have you a video of your car?

Regards
Graham

Greame,
How long has it taken you to get almost nowhere let alone the money you have invested into it? When do you hope it will be finished?
Would it not have been cheaper in both money and sanity to have bought a finished or almost finished car?

I think looking at the different sites that that is why there are so many unfinished projects to buy, its dawned on people that the finished cost, let alone time, is almost or in some cases more then a real one and the after all of that they can't sell them at anywhere near the cost in parts and time of building them. As the one in the UK 19 grand the engine is a V12 5.3 not 5.7 as I had stated and the gearbox is a five speed Renault both of which he had rebuilt.

I asked him the performance figures and as with all other owners of these cars said he didn't know only that it was, and I quote, "s... of a shovel. What ever that meant. I presume fast?
He like other owners didn't seem interested in performance just that it looked great.

Regards

Graham

Greame,
Just seen this on a lambo for sale site. You must know it?

http://lamborghinireplica.com/For%20...h%20091013.htm

US $45.000 seems a lot when you compare it to the one in the UK.

Regards

And to bring this escapade to it's natural end....

Bye Bye Big Red Car!

Well what have i learnt from this flight of fantasy....

1) I still LOVE the look of the Countach as much as i have since i was 10
2) I HATE working on them
3) I HATE driving them.
4) I'm SO glad that i've got this out of my system!
5) I now know a great deal more about cooling systems than i did at the start
6) I'm a hell of a lot less afraid to experiment and tinker with things than i was at the start.
7) I now know that i don't want another "replica". Now please don't get me wrong i'm not slagging replicas off in any way, not in a million years! Neither am i criticizing any of the guys who have replicas of Lambos / Ferraris / Lancias etc... But having owned this MasterCo i have realised that for-me, at this point in my life, one of the things i enjoy most about the whole Kit Car "experience" is having something that i can do whatever i want to with, tinker with, redesign etc.. without having some say "that doesn't look right"
8) Finally, i have gained a LOT more respect for the guys that build these from scratch, or even buy and renovate them. And i hope that i'll still be allowed to talk to a few of you at shows? Even those of you not called Dave!

Fair enough mate glad it found a new home.

If you have any bits left it might be an idea to post them on the other forum there's a few builders at the minute.

See you at one of the shows mate.
