Rust what to do?. The seal behind the drivers door is riddled with rust. Would the paint on rust treatment be enough will it need cutting out and a plate welded in

Have you a picture?
If its holed then im guessing cutting out and welding new

If you can get away with paint on Vactan is military grade rust convertor used by land rover and vw camper owners

Sorry for the poor analogy...but its true...:
Rust is like a cancer, if it cant be sanded off, it must be cut out..
Painting any magic stuff on is like putting a plaster on a sick person..
If you get it sorted properly now it'll be a job well done...
If you bodge it now it'll come back to bite you in the arse...
Thats just my humble opinion of course, after over 30 yrs body repairing cars....

MX5's are prone to rust, and lots of it. I've learnt the hard way my car is due back next week from Tribute after some remedial work but it will be better for it .
Cut it out and weld in new, no other way.

Shame their isnt a complete tub molded off the mx5 with metal sunk to keep rigid. That way you get best of the mx5 layout and a place for all the engine and mechanicals to go.

Was just an idea. Some have done the same with the classic mini and inserted metal in the layers of fibreglass to keep it rigid.

Panels are arriving steadily. Will find out how it sits in the new year. May have to give it a kink in the swage line to work with mx5's raised rear or give it a diagonal lean allowing for more boot space. Also will give it a hotrod stance.

Got all the panels look good for fitting the donor. Got all the lights front and back boot and bonnet. Roof selection looks promising as well. What to call it I don't know. Coupe gt

Ive seen the pile of bits and its a very impressive collection - I especially like the bumpers

As for naming it - it needs to sound Italian and to that end I suggest "Fuoriserie "

It means custom built car

Not sure if you are still heading down this road, but the shape which was emerging in these pictures looked brilliant.

Er. Its gonna look different from picks above.I purchased some panels from a company over a few months with the help of renewing my loan . They have a definite shape and contours and point towards the look of the Alfa gtv 2000. Lancia fulvia roof mix. No pics due to only recently receiving the last panel a few weeks ago.
