Default Sportster Kit Arrives

My kit finally arrived yesterday. Missing a few bits but more than enough to get me going at long last. It will be a pleasant change to start building rather than breaking down and cleaning.

There isn't much in them at the moment but I have a blog and a Flickr album that I promise to try and keep updated.

The Flickr album is called "blackberry marlin" for anyone searching for it.

As I said both are pretty empty at the moment but that will change.

Hi Chris

Welcome to the MAKC Marlin fraternity. Its good to see a new build appear.

Good luck with your build - there are plenty of Sportster builders around who will be able to offer you help.

I'm a bit of an interloper, building a Cabrio, but the DNA of the original chassis are very similar - and I have used a BMW engine and gearbox, so there are lots of similarities.

It will be particularly nice to see you get your M54 engine up and running: with Adem Ergen's help this has moved the Marlin engine options on to a new level.

Good luck - and keep the photos coming!

We all like to take ideas from someone who comes up with a new, or better idea!!

Mike

The fun now starts. I can still remember collecting my kit on a trailer some - err - 11 years ago!

One hint. Its better to ask questions first and then do it after. Unlike some of us which tended to do it first and ask questions after The benefit of others' experience will save you hours and £££,s if you want to draw on it.

Cheers, Robin

cool, it's always good to see another sportster build log come on line. I agree with Robin, ask three times, spend or drill once. I've not totaled up the misspend on my car but it would not be good reading and that's even after asking lots of questions on here.

Having said that, the kit changes over time so you will inevitably hit things where no-one else has a clue what you're talking about, but that's part of the fun of building a non-airfix kit like car such as a westfield.

Good to see a new 'proper' kitcar build thread.

Looking forward to your updates
