Unfinished 250 SWB Hard Top For Saale in the New Year
Dan has been very busy producing the panels for another unfinished project that will be for sale in January:
Panels are only test fitted after trimming in the above pictures. The base car is a 1999 facelift Z3 with a straight six 2 litre, manual gearbox and only 88,000 miles. It's MOT'd until June 2016 and has black leather as shown:
It will be finished to the same level as our previous cars, ie. roadworthy with all panels fixed and latched, lights fitted and wired, number plates fitted. The wheels are 15" steels. If anyone is interest in purchasing before it goes on ebay then please PM me.
I have the convertible Reg R61 OMG that Chris put up for sale just before Christmas (the one with the bolt on wire's.) I got Chris and Dan to fit coil over's on to lower it and fit inside hinges on the boot and move the filler cap to the wing. I did'nt pick it up until 1st of Feb. I drove it all the way from Dorset to Bolton with no problems. I'm currently in the process of rubbing down the joint lines. I'm having a problem with the hood not lowering (seemed ok at Tribute) I need to get the wheels powder coated and a few bits fitted but will be at Stoneleigh whatever stage I'm at. Chris and Dan have been great at every step of the way and very helpful. I need to find the weight of the front clam shell so I can order some uprated gas struts, SGS will make some up for the weight of the new front end, if any one knows the weight please let me know. Hope to see every one at Stoneleigh.
Hi Trev
Glad you're enjoying the car, it looks good in red.
I also asked SGS for a suitable bonnet strut without knowing the mass. I estimated 50% heavier and 10% longer than the BMW bonnet, and about 20kg heavier at the front end. OEM struts are 750-800N so SGS suggested that 1150N would be suitable replacements using larger diameter rods and cylinders The price (Sept 2015) was £22.99 each plus vat and carriage.

Hi Steve
The car I have is the grey/white (gel coat) convertible that Chris had up for sale before Christmas. My mate has a body shop and it is planned to spray the car red once I have prepped it. I have new mirrors, spots and original style indicators, off a Lancia to fit, get the wheels sorted, then down to the body shop for my mate to check it over, he will probably say must try harder.
Thanks for the info on SGS, did you get the struts? and more importantly did they work? at that price they must be worth a try. I am not very good on computers but will try to keep every one informed of my progress and hope to see you all at Stoneleigh.
Cheers Trev
