Default Searching for power

My Z300S is a bit tame with only ~200BHP compare to the 585BHP in my Mercedes.

If I am going to be using it regularly I need more POWEEEERRRRR!

Anyone any experience / stories about these superchargers?

http://www.superchargerswarehouse.co...Superchargers/

It seems an easy 80BHP and less faff than changing the inlets for ~20BHP which seems to be the main alternative.

Any other ideas welcome. I am also looking on BMW forums so if I find anything I will report back

WCA that's just rubbish really.

Its just a little fan blowing some air into the air intake, and to charge a hundred pounds for that is robbery.

80 BHP? that kind of power increase costs a good £1500 plus.

A proper turbo really whangs the air into the intake, and in large volumes too, it spins at 40 000 revs to achieve that as well.

A small electric fan compared with a real turbo is so petty by comparison at air moving, its not even in the same league.

I went this route ages ago, and all these BHP claims are false,
As far as I remember, one of the car TV programs tested one or two of these gadgets and, one actually impeded the airflow and power was lost because of it.

Having seen the video, I think the leaf blowers may spoil the look of your car WCA!

I rest my case........

The only problem is that BMW V12 runs 3 ECU's, 1 for the left bank, 1 for the right bank and 1 to join the other to together, I only know as we'v worked on one.

Anyone who thinks a 12 volt computer fan can produce 80 BHP
has somehow missed the boat as to a basic grasp of physics and engineering I reckon.......

I think a pipe from one of the nose vents to the air intake would probably be just as/more effective.

To be honest Chris, adding a V12 to run the supercharger isn't much more sensible that using a jet engine.

Just wondering how practical it would be to fit a jet engine...

...it would blow away the F1 engined Renault Espace they did.

Default Fitting a jet engine to a road vehicle

It looks fairly straight forward WCA, it's already been done some years ago on a van like mine and taken down the drag strip several times.

Most likely would not look right on your car though.....

One of the first things I thought of when considering the Z3... the 1.9 is cheaper, the 2.8 is a good start and how easy would it be to take an installed Z300S kit off and put it on an M version of the Z3 later on. Now I know and there is a ready market for ready stripped donors!!!

Hey WCA, have you considered Nitrous oxide?

Your 200 BHP ought to be enough to compete with the mums on the school run in their Chelsea tractors, but with nitrous, when you felt adventurous, you could just hit the fast button, and instantly you would have 300BHP!

( Assuming you fitted the 100 BHP jet to the system)

That should be enough to piss off most things on the road.

A lot cheaper than a proper turbo system.

If you cannot run to that, perhaps and engine re-map may work for you? Worth checking out if you are serious about more power....

If you ran it all the time, it would melt your pistons or run out, whichever came first!

I need maximum attack at all times.

Might keep this one tame and see if I can sneak another car past the wife with full street fighter spec.

If I paint it black too and make sure they are never seen parked together she might never know...

Just read slagenracings engine tuning posts and have decided to crawl away into a puddle of inadequacy. I was thinking of bolting on a hair dryer while he is machining the valve ports!!!

Didn't your Z3 donor come with a selection of hairdryers, curling tongs, woman's weekly's etc in the boot? Have a look, they might still be there...
