Default Rough Idle - traced to road side repair

I had some 'issues' a few years ago on the drive to Le Mans classic. Being a true mechanic I got the AA to fix the first big one - air intake hosing disconnected itself following the fitting of a non-standard intake manifold and copious use of jubilee clips.

The second one was possible caused by the AA man struggling to get my bodge reconnected properly. There was a split in the rubber hose.

I did a quick road side fit with gaffer tape and zip ties with the promise to replace it when I got home.

Just off to GSF to pick up the £14 replacement. Only a few years late and actually to fix a new split from the one I originally fixed. Got to love gaffer tape and zip ties.

The local GSF seems to be the only place with anything in stock and they have closed early so fresh gaffer tape and wait another 4 years...

stuck 6 new spark plugs in while I was under the bonnet. No idea how old the Bosch one in there were. At least 45-50K and possibly still the ones from the factory. Certainly brown and cruddy tips instead of shiny.

Now running as smooth as you like.

A useful afternoon, despite GSF's best efforts.
