Default IVA Paperwork

Just starting to fill in the application for IVA. Any tips for filling in the paperwork (other than pointy end of the biro facing down!)?

I understand there may be issues with the VIN plate, as I have an older chassis with 19 digits. Do I need another plate somewhere? If so I take it I need to ask Marlin for it?

Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim,

Mine too had the 19 digit VIN...which was fine with the VOSA SVA (ah...those good old days!) but when we came to register the vehicle with DVLA he noticed I had 2 extra digits. I expained that the last 2 were just the year of chassis manufacture (05 in my case) and he was happy. WHen I suggested that I could overstamp / grind these out so as not to confuse testers in the future he told me in no uncertain terms to leave well alone....a tampered VIN plate is a real no no (for obvious reasons)

Other point to note, because I failed IVA over it is that the VIN plate and the stamped chassis number must be on the offside of the car. My cabrio has the stamped chassis number on a plate welded to the nearside. Even if it had been on the offside it would have failed because it was over 2 lines.

I stamped the VIN number on the o/s bulkhead, and fitted a VIN plate nearby.
