Default Front tube trimming question

Can anyone provide a pic of how much of the front tube needs to be trimmed. I'm just curious.
Also, why? Which bit of the bonnet snags if it is left on. I could probably work this out for myself but I would have to unstrap the bonnet from where it is suspended in the roof of the workshop.
Thanks in advance for responses.

here you go, excuse the overspray etc - on my list of things to do when I am not driving it

It depends on your choice of radiator and where you mount it and how you hinge your bonnet as this determines how much of the bonnet tucks under when you open it. I hinged mine low down as I wanted the bonnet to open up as much as possible.

Either way you have to trim some down as Gary lays up the body with a lot of "spare" glass to allow you to trim to fit your own needs..

Tony,
Did you cut down the tin plate shrouding either side of the engine, isnt obvious, in the photos but I know others have.

On my Vitesse, they didn't need trimming, as they are lower anyway.
I think the 1200/1300 heralds do need trimming.

TRIMMING OR REMOVING.....As Tony says , Vitesse are lower anyway ....I just take them off but trimming them parallel to the chassis works as well...

If you have a Herald and you want to keep those inner muck guards, as i will say that they were quite effective in the rain the other day, you could always replace the Herald ones with Vitesse ones? Although i don't know how much they cost 2nd hand from Spitfire Graveyard?

From looking at the pictures of Tony's, i think i cut mine just a tad shorter, but not by much and as he said it shouldn't make a massive amount of difference.
You can just about see mine on the below pic of my admittedly "in need of a clean and tidy" under-bonnet
