Default 2cv Sammio_the italian job

Hi,
My name is fabio and I joined the forum a few weeks ago.
I will start a new project in the next couples of weeks which I hope will lead to a new addition to the growing family!!!
I bought from a fellow member a sammio shell with the idea to built a new 2cv sammio. I read that already two other members decided to go on this direction and I hope to meet them one day.
The donor car is a Manx (2cv kit car) which I bought from a friend of mine. This solution should help me to cut down time and money in constructing the frame. In fact I will use the Manx fiberglass shell as new the main part for the sammio.
I add a few pictures below:shell, donor car (it is the white one ) and storage room.
I will keep you posted with the progress...ciao Fabio

Max224 - It will be good to see another 2CV based Sammio build.

Is "C 480 DBL" also yours, as that looks interesting too.

Good luck, Paul.

Welcome to the exclusive club of Sammio ownership.

I've always been a fan of 2CV based kits, but you might find that your driving position will be very high in the Spyder as you can't really lower the floor pans due to the design of the 2CV chassis.

I'd recommend you consider that from day 1 and design in a suitable seating position - you could maybe mount the body 50mm or so higher up and use steeply raked-back seats mounted towards the front of the cockpit so you have a laid back driving position, a bit like this -

Anyway, good luck with it and enjoy the challenge!

Max gets a lot of attentions and pictures

redratbike well spotted I live round oprington!!!

I agree with you Mister Towed that 2cv flat floor does not help

I will start using my lomax seat as "template" which are steeply raked-back

but the aim is to use somenting more similar to this ones but more steeply

Nice 'bomber' seats. Are you fabricating them yourself?

I will probably not. Never done before and so much to do already on the car. But if I change my mind I will post progress on the forum.

Have you worked out how much of the old body shell you need to cut away?

I am sure having floors, rear wheel arches, etc. will save you a bit of time.

Good luck, Paul.

Welcome to this new project!

I look forward to seeing how you will do the construction. You have found a good base that will save you a lot of time.

For my part, I will try to continue the construction of my SAMMIO CHEVAUX also based on Citroen 2CV.

I did not worked out the lines but removing windscreen and part of rear body the sammio shell should them just fit on top without too much troubles
I separated chassis from the body during the weekend. Chassis has a few rusty points but the main rails seem to be ok

Fabio - A driveway with tarpaulins over bits of car looks familiar.

Good luck with the rust repairs, Paul.

Hello everyone,

Worked on the car yesterday and managed to remove the engine, gear box and a few suspensions parts.

I hope to keep the car this low knowing that a few modifications will be required (front arms. probably sammio shell etc).

For now parts under tarpaulins. Again!!!

Fabio
