Question Broken Top Engine Mount - K Series

Hi Guys,

The small black tie rod that ties the top engine mount to the frame has snapped today. Any ideas on where to get a replacement - looks like a proprietry part but don;t know where to look?

Cheers

Rich

The little part that looks like something Tom Thumb would bench press?

If so, can you not press out the rubber bushes and weld it?

....was hoping that someone had come up with a stronger alternative?? but still with resilient bushes.

I have fitted a temporary solid link and the vibration at idle is way too much - and will shake the car to bits eventually!!

I originally didn't fit the mount on my car, but in a bid to take some longitudinal load out of the cotton reel engine mount I did eventually fit the dog-bone mount.

I wasn't too sure of the strength, so prior to fitting cut the original small bar off and welded on some much larger diameter tube - quick fix, as the rubber bushes push out easily.

With all the track work my car has done, I have broken just about every engine mount. basically the K Series standard mounts while fine for the road need upgrading for track work. If you have had one go it will only go again, I would recommend that you have some beefier ones made, TD did mine.
