Default Sammios - the whos got what and where thread!

Seeing as there are more and more of us Sammio types posting on here, Garys comment in one of the other threads made me think that it'd be good to have a simple thread just about who's building/driving what, based on what, what mods we're making and where we all are.
So in order to kick things off i'll go first:

Kit: Std right hand drive Sammio Spyder

Progress: well under way - on track to finish some time in early August (hopefully)

Donor: A Herald 13/60 that was converted to full Vitesse Mk2 2.0L spec in the 80's

Mods (so far): Swing spring, electronic ignition, alternator conversion, high torque starter, lowered seat pans, retractable seat belts, 15" MGC wire wheels.

Do you chaps think you'll have enough to talk about if I created a dedicated section of the forum to the Sammio? Let me know and I'll set it up if you think it would be useful.

John

Default Yes please John

Yep, us Sammio bods are up for that, Gary Janes has created a new verve when it comes to kit cars (sorry, rebodied classics) they don't have a prescibed out come you just go your own way and note comparison is always interesting, thanks. Pat

Yes please, one of the first things i asked when looking into Sammio was "is there a forum/club" as that is the way things are going more nowadays.

ATM it's split between one of the Triumph sub-forums and here, but it'll be nice to have a place to call our own :-)

I'm sure there are loads more topic specific threads i can think of if one is set up

John
That would be fantastic , if you could - THANK YOU.
If you could do that , please send me details of how to maybe sponsor that page or run an advert or something ?

On a side note , I have trouble getting into the Triumph forum - keeps refusing my passwords , even when new ones set - could someone who goes in there please let Hugh know that I haven't to my knowledge ignored his emails , don't recall the name , so maybe they are going astray - quite a few end up in my junk for some reason ....he can call me on 07970 636986 and I will happily deal with him ...

THANKS

A Sammio forum!
A great idea Sammio;s aren't the regular kit car - follow the build manual and then get it through the SVA IVA or whatever the next test.
The builder has far more freedom to create the car they want.

Im sure the experiences of builders on this forum will aid those who are less experienced and inspire new people that would not have considered building their own car.

Exactly , if you get the phylosophy of my idea , thats great , a few people don't ...I get asked about build manuals all the time and the nearest to that is my 'getting started' section on the website ....the link to Trevors blog helps as well ....but the point is , that other than a few guidance pointers on how to change the bodies etc. they aren't 'handbook / manual ' type cars ....I come from a background of innovation and adaption when building cars and I bring that style of build to this concept as well .....It would be pretty dull if they all looked and spec'ed up the same ...individual cars for individual owners !
A forum of our own will be a fantastic source of info for everyone both with build ideas , product discovery for ease of build ( handbrakes for example , I use Morris Minor and Mini , but I know Patton's using a Peugeot or Ford KA ) and will encourage relative novices or 'build manual only' types to come to the other side !!
Also , I acknowledge that my kits aren't perfect or high quality ( reflected in their price ! ) , so issues with body prep , overcoming any irregularities etc will be of interest to anyone starting out also.....

Obviously I'm a bit biased on this one - so I'll sit down now !!

Ok great, I'll get it setup over the weekend. I'll also move all the threads made thus far over to it once setup so you may need to update links if you have certain threads bookmarked.

Cheers, John

New Sammio Sub forum up and running. If I've missed any threads please let me know and I'll move them across.

Trying to get those ebay ads sorted as well, should be coming up with Triumph and Scimitar stuff but for some reason isn't.

Just realised I havn't got Sammio listed in the manufacturers section so will rectify that today and add the cars so that you can all add pictures of your creations to the relevant galleries

Cheers, John
