Default 2018 Summer Gathering

As a distraction from the cold outside, I want to start the ball rolling on a forum get together in the Summer.

The Tribute boys ‘next door’ have set a high standard with their gatherings.

I think the original Sammio get together in 2012 had three cars.
( With Patton’s ‘Skippy’ just out of range of the photo. )

Then there were regular sighting of three cars in the Norfolk area before Mr T sold his.

The most I have managed so far is ‘one and a half’.
( And I'm still gutted this photo was so blurred. )

But I’d really like to see a nice collection of Sammios in one place, plus their Miglia & Formosa cousins too.

We can still throw the invite open to other forum members once we have a cunning plan.

So if you would be interested in meeting up, let me have your thoughts and ideas.

Personally, my Plan A would include an overnight stay so we could have a few beers in the bar.

But I would still be happy with a Plan B which was a single day meet up before heading home.

I’m based in NW London, but can head off in any direction from the M25.

Cheers, Paul.

Hello Paul,

I like your plan A (I,ve to come from the Netherlands..)

My car is running better and better so i t hink a trip to England should be
possible, although it would be a challenge without a roof.
(i,m not driving in the snow like you do)

So please order some nice weather in forward.

Please let me know your plans so i can try to organise things around work.

Glad to see there is some interest in this.

We will probably struggle to find a location that is central to everyone.

So it would help if you could post any practical travel limits from where you live.

Cheers, Paul.

Maybe a location in the midlands area, perhaps combine the get together with a motor sport event eg Prescott Hill Climb near Cheltenham. They welcome club gatherings.

Lucky - I know The Three Musketeers met up at places like Cadwell.

And there was a Tribute trip to Le Mans too.

However, I'd like this to be a simple get together for a chat about our cars and builds and putting faces to forum names.
( I also liked the idea of a group drive on the last Tribute gathering. )

But I'm happy to go with the majority if they prefer something else.

Cheers, Paul.

Myself and Nick ( worldclassaccident ) made the trip down to the classic Lemans a couple of years ago. Also bumped into Richard from Nubodi whilst we were there.
As always a great weekend of racing and one of the best gatherings of classic cars anywhere in Europe. I'm booked to go again this year and staying at the La Fleche campsite about 30 minutes south of the circuit.

I'd be up for this, even if I have to travel in something modest. Summer 2019 is my new "on the road" date. Cue laughter -

One of my customers suggested CASTLE COMBE!!

There,s a café.
There's camping.
There's a bar.
There's entertainment.
THERE'S A RACE TRACK!!!!!

There's a summer festival 7th July 2018.

That's a cracking venue, and a cracking event, but not, this year, on a cracking weekend

Why not go the whole hog and meet here?

Classic Le Mans

Regards, Mick

This is not very scientific, but I've marked up the following on a map.
Swindon - Sammio HQ
Poole/Dorset - Formosa & Tribute HQs
Norwich - Mr T, Phil & Barry

It all depends on how far people want to drive.

Looking at the distances Silverstone is sort of central for most, so possibly meet up there, I use a great B&B close to the circuit at £70.00 a night, all the rooms are individual log cabins in the grounds and there are BBQ facilities or a pub within easy walking distance its called the Old Post Office at Ardley - just a thought
