Hit a bit of a problem today. When I connected up the rear lights & indicators, nothing worked. Very odd as I did check out the wiring BEFORE I put it together. So, the interior trim, seats & seatbelts have all got to come out and the shell taken off the frame http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...lies/faint.gif

Very good progress today. Very nearly there but don't think it will be on the road for Goodwood Revival this year. Just need to get it re-registered as a Sammio and get an MOT; no doubt easier said than done. Drove it out from the carport under her own power.......As you can see, I've gone for the "Barn-Find" look.
Talking of Goodwood, I've got an acting job this year. I'm at the Drivers Club in part of a set up for the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. If you are there, do come and make yourself known .... but I will have to stay in character .... "bon chance" as the French say .....

Looking good, Slarti.
Hope to bump into you at Goodwood again. Haven't had my invite to the driver's club yet though, must have been held up in the post...

Belated congratulations on your first 'drive'.
Like the name of your pub, sorry, garage.
I’ve just been offered a ticket for Goodwood on Friday (via work).
Not 100% sure how the day will go, but I might see you there.
Good luck, Paul.

Good luck getting the V5C updated.
It is definitely one of the good build days when you have that in your hand.
Cheers, Paul.

After 3 letters and nearly 5 months, I have finally received a V5C with the original registration number for a Sammio Spyder .....
A final bit of tidying up and getting new stick on number plates and off for an MOT. Perhaps Goodwood Revival this year (if it's not raining).....

Isn't it exempt or is the mot just for your piece of mind ?

From my understanding it would only be exempt if the vehicle "has not been substantially altered" ....... It's still exempt for Road Tax as it is an "Historic Vehicle" . Hope to be on the road very soon.

That is my understanding too.
I was expecting problems when I registered my Daytona replica as MOT exempt. I was expecting to have to prove that the conversion had been done over 30 years ago but no mention was ever made.
Ing they do ever ask I cam across a magazine article on my car dated to 1988 showing the conversion and clearly showing the registration plate, without the article I would have had no way of proving the conversion date. I was very lucky as the car was the factory demonstrator.

My Formosa 120 GR, Scimitar based, was both Tax and MOT exempt. This goes back to the rebody concept of a car with historic status, with a chassis, which if it isn't modified, retains that historic status.
When I presented the paperwork at the post office they were happy that everything was in order. My car was also inspected by the DVLA at my home prior to the V5 being issued and the inspector was also happy with everything.
If your donor car was of Historic status then that should be passed on both for tax and mot exemption,

Slartibartfast – A very belated congratulations on the V5C.
Did your car pass its MOT and are you finally on the road?
Hope you are enjoying the car after all the hard work that went into it.
Good luck, Paul.

Hi Paul. Been a bit busy with other "domestic" things at the moment. My dear lady wife has her foot in a surgical boot following a planned op: so I'm chief cook & bottle washer. Hoping to get an MOT very soon. Watch this space. Thanks for your support.

You can't use the pound sign, just put the numbers down. Don't ask why, nobody knows !
