Default Poor fitting body panels

I started thinking about fitting, what I'll call "secondary" body panels, this evening.

The front piece is a laughably bad fit:

It's pretty easy to get the part to fit, but how a mould can be so far out is beyond my comprehension!

not sure if your aware but it doesn't just slot in, you have to cut the vent out more so that that pannel will slide in then once it is touching both sides thats where it fits.

it wouldnt be the first time that body panels dont fit if you have done the above and it still doesn't fit. All I can say its whats new?

John

I have given up trying to make mine fit, and thats after having the body fitted by Marlin, even they had several stabs at it judging by how many holes were in the side pannels. Maybe its just that its the doored version.

I do have concerns over a potential builders who actually read these threads, sometime wish i had read them more.

Good luck

Steve,

In general I've not found the panels very hard to line up (though they will never be Aston Martin accurate!), but the front infill simply amused me, so I posted some pictures.

As for potential builders reading the threads - in my view, it's best they hear the truth.

Agree the threads are invaluable for potential builders like me.

It means when I take the leap I will do so with my eyes wide open.

So far they have helped me get much more realistic ideas on work level, and on the real cost of a build than Marlin would supply.

But it also works in Marlins favour as you can see the enjoyment that people that have got them on the road are having which makes people less likely to bolt.

Well done David, we need a possitive thinker in the midst of us all.

Hope is does not fall away if and when you start your build.

Noticed on mine today the engine satbliser was bent, oh joy yet another issue to distract me from putting right other problems.

Steve
