Oh, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I also changed the front indicators from the small, oval led type to Land Rover ones. They look more like the ones fitted to the original D24 Spyders and have fixed an issue with the hazard lights flashing at double speed that I hadn't been able to sort out any other way.

Mr T - I've been switching between a Mac & a PC in an attempt to get at your photos.

Sometimes your album would appear, but if you clicked on the next photo arrow, a different album would appear and any attempt to go backwards failed.

Other times, your album contained the same error message as the forum and sometimes there was just an error message and no album at all.

Given the negative reaction to this so far, I expect this decision to be reversed shortly.
( As, surely, the whole point of an image hosting site is to allow images to be hosted! )

Anyway, I managed to grab another one...

Looks like you have nicely upstaged the Aston Martin there.

Yes, there were some very expensive rides on parade, it's not caught in the photos but there was a BMW i8 directly ahead of me and a Ford Crapi (no, that's not a typo) in front of that.

It was a shame I had to remove the roundel from that side as the decals make such a difference to the overall look of the car. They'll all be replaced with new ones once I've finished the paint.

Your son looks like the cat that got the cream, so job well done I would say.

Shitty thing for photobucket to do though. How much are they asking to 'upgrade' as you can probably host your own domain with storage space for around £15 a year. Doesn't surprise me that they are doing it to be honest as picture hosting is expensive and fraught with copyright issues and hosting of dubious content.

Thanks JG, yes, son does love going out in the car and will be assisting with my next build.

Haven't looked to see how much ransom P bucket want, but won't pay on principle - once you've given in to blackmail once you're an easy touch for them to come back and keep demanding more.

So, if there's an image below I'll have sorted something out...

Bugger.

Available Plus Account Plans : Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans:
o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 100 Plan: 102 GB of Storage for $99.99 / Year. The Plus 100 Plan allows for unlimited image linking but does not allow 3rd party image hosting.

o Plus 500 Plan: 500 GB of Storage and unlimited bandwidth for $399.99 / Year. The Plus 500 Plan allows for unlimited image linking and unlimited 3rd party image hosting.

Ouch. Four hundred bucks a year for 3rd party image hosting. Think I'll pass.

Crazy prices, from free to $399 per year. That will be the end of them then

Glad you had a great time Phil and that the weather held out for you.

I've finished the mods to my car and it's roadworthy again, but the paint needs flatting back and a few more topcoats adding, which I'm aiming to do over the next four or five days.

I'd make the run up to Lincs. today but I'm tied up with prior commitments all day. Looks like you've got great weather for the show too. Enjoy the run and I'll see you soon.

Thanks Gary, yep, the bonnet scoop looks much more authentic now and the LR front indicators do look more period correct. Might just change to clear lenses at some stage though.

And back on the road again today after rather too long a break for a freshen up -

Very pleased with the results, it now looks better than ever. Proper black & white plate for the back should be here tomorrow and it's going in Friday morning for its roundels and other badging to be professionally applied, so should have some better pictures to show then. Photobucket permitting...

Thanks Dave, rear lights are motorcycle units available from ebay -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Racer-...UAAOSwnbZYEJ6m

...they have the rear light, brake light, indicator and number plate light all in one. They're MOT legal for my car as it's a 1968 reg so there's no requirement for them to be 'E' marked.

It doesn't need a rear fog light either for the same reason, and I used to run it legally with just a single, central brake light but people kept flashing me and telling me that my outboard brake lights weren't working, which was a pain, so I changed to a matched pair.

The 'bible' for lighting is The Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 (as amended) -

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1.../contents/made

Careful reading of the regs, specifically the requirements (or otherwise) for historic vehicles will light your path to fitting legal, but period correct lights (pun fully intended).

Enjoy!

Mr T - Your car looks good now and can only get better when the roundels, etc. go on.

The new "less is more" rear end arrangement is an amazing transformation.

I'd love to see how your sill extension work turned out, as it looked a very tricky cut to repair.

How I just need to pull my finger out so I can get my car back on the road for a trip to Norfolk before the Winter sets in.

Cheers, Paul.

PS
It is great that JG was able to bring all your old photos back in both your threads.

I use the rear lights on my cafe racers, there are a few different versions and 2 sizes. You can get them with red or clear lenses and bulb or LED versions. Only the LED version has the indicator version, they are available in black or chrome. The larger version comes a single unit, the smaller version comes as a pair, search on eBay for "cats eye light".
