I'm going to stick with the standard wheels for now as they are, will look better once the ride height is set properly. I'd like some colour coded centres and polished rim 19" split rims but my budget can't stretch to that right now! There isn't much room on the phantom for wheels, they need a big offset and that awkward 4x114.3mm bolt pattern unless you change the hubs...

Where are the GT0 twin stripes over the roof? :-)

Seriously looks great, I love black but my last four cars were so and I had a change.

Nearly finished, I plan to have screen in and get it MOT'd in the next week or so. Headlights are now finished and I'm very pleased with the result! After MOT I'll get it over to the trimmers to do the carpets, dash and centre console and then that's it, daily hack duties will commence!

I've been doing some of the trim myself:

in the Phantom Ken?

I threw the interior in today and did lots of final bits and pieces to get it ready for its MOT, then I can drive it over to the trimmer when he can fit me in

Road legal again! :-)

Anyone know any decent/inexpensive trimmers in Warwickshire? The guy I was going to use is booked solid until the end of April. I need the dash/centre console and carpets doing..

Rich
PS I'll get some pics up when I have some light, couldn't have had a worse days weather for the first drive, it didn't leak anywhere though!

Hi Ricola

ive been checking out your website - wow, some fantastic ideas in there, for when i rebody my car. (organically shaped GRP!!)

looks like you use the same engine as me, ie 2.7 litre V6 from a Rover 827, and now you got a cheap, UNUSED engine as a spare.

qu - are there many more such virgins lurking around? cos after 7 years without any TLC (or use), my motor could be ready for an early bath once i get the kit up and running again

just thinkin. . .

not that i wanted to hijack the thread with my last post, i did try a few years back to pursuade my father to build a Phantom (well, me build it, he pay) out of his 827. Are there rear seats for a coupla little people? (assuming no mega-hifi)

Cheers guys

No rear seat or any chance of fitting any small ones I'm afraid.. Unfortunately the engine I bought turned out to be a 2.5l version so it's gathering dust in the corner of my garage, I'll probably strip it for spares as they are getting harder to get hold of now and most of the engine is common..

Just a short update:

Car and Coach will be doing the trim in leather, I'm getting the door panels redone too while he's at it. Makes it much easier that they have done phantoms before so don't have to do any experimentation so a quicker/better job.. 3 hides have been ordered in 'warm charcoal' and should be ready at the end of the month and I'll get bits over to him.

Also, I lowered the rear end so it site noce and level now..

Default Hi

Hi, have to congratulate you on a superb motor. Have a couple of questions for you. When you started your build threads you talked of changing the colour to Silver but can't find where you changed your mind and went Black ! Also why change those front seats for the S2000's , I thought I read on one page that you were happy with the interior as it had been well trimmed! Otherwise keep up the good work and keep those piccies coming! Cheers

My only doubt about black was getting a good enough finish on the body post all the repair work, I've always loved black cars, they are timeless, also silver is getting far too common these days. When the painter looked over the car he saw no problem in black and my 3 year old son said it should be black so that made the decision easier.

Re interior colour: it was the carpet that kept annoying me, old man brown that I just couldn't put up with. I was going to have to redesign the dash and console anyway so that's why I changed. It is being done by the same people so the quality will still be excellent, hopefully next week!

Lots more pics of the build are on my website...
