Default Bag of Sand

Good evening i was out at 07:30 this morning in the SWB , after removing the frozen car cover (triple layer) which did a good job of keeping the glass clear , what did i learn , the windscreen demister did a good quick job of clearing the mist of the inside of the glass , the heater very quickly gets the car toasty , and the boot needs a number of bags of sand to keep the rear end planted , that was something i knew anyway , even with new relatively narrow tyres (185) width the rear end is loose , it only takes a few snowflakes to stick somewhere in the UK for BBC news to have pictures of cars sliding around usually BMWs , all the best for the New Year , Geoff .

The slides are nicely progressive though if you keep traction control off and the throttle open. I caught it from almost full opposite lock after getting enthusiastic on a big round about this morning.

Thankfully the road was empty so no risks to anyone else.

If fact the road was so empty that I went back for another try but a bit more deliberately. I was on my second loop of the round about with the tail hanging out nicely when I saw another car coming so reined it in and continued on the Sainburys to get the milk as originally asked.

Much more fun that the over controlled Mercedes and at far saner speeds.

Try reducing the rear tyre pressures by a few psi in slippery conditions. Should give you more traction by putting more rubber on the road. Don't overdo the pressure reduction though or the tyre will come off the rim during spirited cornering.
