Default Mx250 owners

Hi guys. Has any of you Mazda mx250 owners had to change the water pump?
I think mine is leaking and need to know if I should attempt it my self.
Cheers

I changed the water pump on my Mx5 not too long ago, and tbh it's actual a pretty big job. There's a lot of "stuff" in the way. It goes all the way down to the thermostat cover having to be taken off. There was a few good guides that I followed,

So you have to take off aux belts first (for me this proved to be a nightmare as the bolt that the alternator "rotates" on to adjust tension had seized and I actually ended up tearing the top half of the bolt off the bottom half, leaving just the thread in there and still in the way!)

Guide to removing aux belts: http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52050

Then you have to remove your cam belt assembly, Guide: http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52586

Then finally the pullys, cover thermostat and water pump, Guide:

As I said it was a fairly big job for me and took all day (8 hours!) but I'm not a mechanic by any sorts. Only ever "tinkered" and and changed oil/plugs/a few gaskets here and there.

Hope that helps

Gordon
