Unhappy I am now, officially, an idiot

Thought I'd bagged a bargain on eBay - 4 steel wheels, pcd 100, 4 stud 57mm bore, with tyres for £40. Old VW Golf wheels - Just the ticket to get the chassis rolling, and off the build stands.

Get them home - and then realise that they're only 13" wheels!

They only just clear the rear callipers - but there's no way the wheel would rotate... So there's no chance of them fitting on the front.

Bugger.

Ah well. Back they go on eBay...

balls no good for spares either. With any luck you'll make a profit on it!

I have a nice set of 15" alloys for sale !!

Seriously though, if you need a set of wheels just to move the car around I still have my original steel BMW wheels collecting spiders in my lock up.
the tyres are no good for driving on but the wheels are just a bit dirty. (you can see them in my early rolling road pictures.)

They are yours if you want to collect. I'm at UB9 if you want to work out how much petrol it will cost you. (The alloys might be cheaper after all)

After a motorway services meet up with Peter (very cloak and dagger... ), I now have some wheels that fit - I won't have to resort to putting my nice refurbished BBS's on it until it's all done!

Thanks Peter! Hope the second half of your journey home was less eventful than the first.

My BMW / BBS alloys I've got came from eBay as well. A popular place for wheels!

I didn't have to meet the seller at motorway services, as he was in Northampton. But I did have to meet him at his lock-up - Which was, shall we say, the wrong side of the tracks...

That and I don't believe there was a square inch of him that wasn't pierced or tattoo'd

Intimidating? A little....
