Stand alone , plug and play ECU
Hi guys , I’m getting confused (not difficult )
Has anybody had any experience of plug and play ECU’s
My mk2 MX5 , which now has a supercharger fitted needs a new / better Ecu .
It will and does run on standard Ecu but to get the most out of the supercharger I need to tune it.
However , electronics are not my thing .
Please help

I have been told Megasquirt are fairly easy to install and easy to set up via a laptop. Not sure about any that are true 'plug and play' tho. A lot of the MX5 guys who go down the V6 conversion route use them.

A shame to see your last one on Fleabay. Any pics of the new donor yet?

You will need either an aftermarket ECU or a piggy back ECU. Then you need to get a tuner with a rolling road to set it up.
Megasquirt is an option, although there are better ECUs nowadays, and your rolling road tuner knows how to use the ECU you choose.

Bonus .
Only “ found” a mega squirt2 plumbed in behind the footwell.
The previous owner didn’t know it was there, now need to check the injectors to see if they’ve been unrated too? If they have then I’m off to the tuners.
If not I will update them , then head off to the tuners.

Good find, a decent ECU is £500 - £700. i think you need to buy some beer to celebrate.

Sounds like you have got yourself a bargain there. Good luck and looking foreward to seeing the progress.
