Default Newbie question - which Seven ???

Now this thread could put the cat amongst the pigeons(spell?)

I've lusted most of life after a kit car and always come back to the lotus 7 type of kits. Have just been looking at a few websites (ones that I can find) to see whats on offer and what they look like etc. As I said I'm a newbie to this so a couple of questions.
Actually HUNDREDS of questions, but will start with these first -

1. Generally do the full width (sierra) kits handle better than the narrow kits, assuming similar suspension/wheel set ups? ie wider track = better handling?

2. If for example there is no difference, then I prefer the looks of the narrow kits and plain bonnet (ie no swage lines(if that's the right term) as on the westfields). Which kits would meet these criteria?

3. Don't seem to hear of many vauxhall engines being used - if they are, are they still mated to vauxhall gearboxes or ford boxes and if vaux boxes, which donor cars?

4. The ultimate question - WHICH KIT? Can't afford the dearest, but definitely don't just want a kit and a bog standard sierra combo (please, this is no disrespect to those that do - just not for me).
I have a few short listed, but would rather hear some unbiased replies before mentioning them.

So any comments, replies would be MUCH appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation,
Romer

Might be worth a look at http://locostbuilders.co.uk/ - although originally forums for the Ron Chapman book it also covers Luego, MK, Tiger & other sevenesque kits.
