Hi roadster. Talked to a lot of people on this and I think it comes down to the official an unofficial answer. It's an mx5 with a body kit. Also I gave heard a few companies have build manuals and registration manuals to get it registered as a kit car without having to iva. The reality is there is nothing structural removed just like if someone was to tube their front end. Think they regulate the kitcar market now because it's a smaller market. If they looked into all cars that have any changes parts cut away etc they would not be ablessed to cope with the influx lol. My car is insured with Adrian flux as a widow kit car. Log book still shows mx5 tho.

Ah ok
When I researched to build my roadster - I was informed if I cut any of the monocoque ie the steel body chassis unit I would need an IVA- As long as it unbolted they were happy for me to remove.
Which is why my shape was compromised when I left everything intact below the fibreglass body.

Wow Wow Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
This has to be the best looking "kit car " I have ever seen.
When this is painted correctly, you would never believe it's not a manufactured car.
Regarding registration/IVA, can you not follow the route Tribute take with all of their body conversions?.
After so much amazing work to achieve such a flawless finish it would be a real shame to fall at the last hurdle and alienate any potential customers with registration uncertainty.
Well done. Top job

Forgot to ask, what quarter windows will this use and will it be available with a fixed roof ie no targa top.
Can anyone with photo shop do the black car in white with mat black wheels and blacked out windows stormtrooper style, big ask I know but would love to this as a finished car.
Well done again.

Wayne - The primer's dark colour actually makes the car stand out more than the bright colour (if that makes sense).

Details of how one Tribute owner got his log book changed can be found here.

I'd highly recommend you get your V5C changed ASAP for two reasons:

- The first is so the DVLA will have a record of your "brand", which would make it easier for other customers to follow.

- You are selling this kit to others, which is very different to building a car that is not strictly legal for yourself.

As a customer would be fully entitled to sue you if they tried to update their log book and were told the car needed an IVA.

Good luck, Paul.

Man in the US I would have to do nothing to get that on the road. Well Just call up Hagarty and get "Specialty" insurance then head over to the tag office and get my Miata tag and title.

Then Ride off into the sunset with the targa top off hahaha

Just seen his updated photos on facebook. Man did that car turn out nice! He should be really proud of what this car turned out to be. Not many people could start it and see it to the end.

Looks great Wayne
Any vids I want to hear that exhaust note.
I think it will keep many people guessing the donor.

I look forward to seeing it around the show circuit next year not to mention the local haunts in Essex.

Really good looking car well done, the finish looks spot on. Maybe put a dateless irish plate on though. You can get them for £30 and no one should know the age of it!

As you can imagine this car has been getting a lot of interest. Here is an exhaust video he posted a while back. Remember this is just a stock Miata.

Here are also a few more pictures

Also if anyone following this is in the USA and is interesting in purchasing one feel free to contact myself or Wayne
