Default Ignition problem with my Pinto - HELP

Folks, I need your help.

I've got a 2.0l petrol transit van that is refusing to spark. It worked perfectly all the time I used the van but the minute I decided to sell it, it stopped working, literally.

When I first looked at the problem the rotor arm and dizzy cap were both badly burnt (as in the top of the rotor had a burnt out crater in it), fair enough I thought, buy a new rotor arm and dizzy cap and away I go but nadda, didn't make a difference.

Have since replaced the coil and the EFi unit (if it's called that I'm not sure), it's the electronic version rather than contacts, but this has made no difference, no spark from the HT lead coming off the coil. Have checked wiring from ignition to coil and all appears ok.

The only thing I havn't replaced is the dizzy.

Anyone got any ideas on what it might be and what checks to do to isolate the problem?

Cheers in advance

John

Hi John.

Can't see it being the same problem as me. But I had a similar problem when I first tryied starting my car. No spark from coil. It lost spark on cranking from the ignition switch. Turned out I had the switched positive on the wrong terminal on the ignition switch.

For trouble shooting. Can you try switching on the ignition so lights show on dash, then short the starter with a screw driver see if she starts?
