Hi Tony,
I also don't have access to a garage etc, I've always wanted to build a kit car but never had the funds or space to do it tbh.
Then I came across this forum and then this section :-) this type of build is much easier and ideal from those like me on a budget!
My biggest decision to make first is do I sell my Ducati to fund this (I never get much free time to ride it due to family commitments) and go for it!

Can I use a mx5 mk2 and will I run into problems if I do ?

Thanks

Steve

Depends what you want to build, Mk 1 Mx 5 is a cheap easy option for a 250 GTO, BMW Z3 seems favourite at the moment for Kobra or Z300 and possible future options. Talk to Chris at Tribute anything can be possible.

1993 Imported Eunos Roadster Vspec 1.8 is what I used £800 on ebay, has tan leather AC Etc. basically MK 1 MX 5, MK 2 is also an option with some modification. I would look at late mk 1 mx 5's special editions with leather etc. Even a 1.6 as they can be tuned more than the 1.8.

Note that Tony says import, they will have spent at least the first 10 years in a salt free climate. Don't be tempted by a UK mx5 of that age, they will be rusty!

Top point I looked at lots before I got lucky with mine it was imported then used as a summer car garaged in the winter when the first UK owners went to got it out there was a puddle of water underneath they chopped it in with the importer for another and he stuck it on ebay with a suspected head gasket gone, I went to see it and found a heater hose at the rear of the engine had perished due to age, easy fix. First big down pour of rain I could hear sloshing looked on line and found out what it was its why the UK ones have rusty sills, drilled four 8mm holes in mine front and back let out the water it was clean no rust, let it dry, cleared the hood drains then injected hot waxoil into the sills with a probe. Job done.

Tony – Welcome back.

Do you have any more photos of the car painted?

Cheers, Paul.

The grill has two bits of stud bar fibre glassed in place and a length of aluminium channel holds it in place.
