The ad is indeed in Octane and the pic is in monochrome, which is a nice touch. I reckon that's a fair price and you'll get some interest. The Octane ad for my Spyder (at £24k) produced four genuine overseas buyers who were all disappointed that it had already gone by the time they got their copies and contacted me.

Good luck, it looks fantastic and deserves to achieve a strong price if you do sell it.

Lucky - Good luck for the MOT.

Would love to see the tester's face when you roll in.

The garage I use is run by an Italian family, the father and two brothers ! They know I'm bringing in a Ferrari replica but that's all, they'll be expecting an old MR2 or something like that!

Mister Towed, I did the mods to the rear indicators that you highlighted, I think I'm ready now. I want to use the car a little before I let it go, I'll be surprised if it goes right away.

Yep, enjoy it while you can but don't be surprised if a buyer comes along and bites your arm off.

After all, how many are on the market worldwide right now and how much would it cost to have an all alloy replica built?

Mine took about a week to attract its first serious offers from the ebay classified, which peaked at about £5.5k less than the asking price. Two European dealers were also negotiating offers around the £20k mark when I was offered the asking price less the cost of transporting it, which I figured was a pretty acceptable offer.

A week after I waved goodbye to my Spyder, the ad appeared in Octane. Over the next two months I received quite a lot of interest from overseas buyers, at least four of whom were absolutely gutted that it had sold already when they made contact.

I was lucky in that I didn't need to sell it and loved it so much that I was perfectly happy to turn down offers and keep on driving it indefinitely. I'm guessing that you might just be in the same barchetta.

Good luck!

I've seen that car before. I don't know why you would go to such lengths to create such a poor replica. There has obviously been lots of work put into it but it went wrong somewhere along the line !

It wasn't my first thought to advertise my car so soon but we are coming upto the spring time and it just made sense to test the water to see if there was interest. It also occurred to me that I could pay the mortgage off 10 years early and have change left over for my next project. I have always been into this hobby for the building / creating side rather than the long term ownership.

We will see what happens...

I'm not familiar with Octane Magazine, I only went to them because I remembered you had a good response with your ad Mister Towed. It will also be in the next issue of Classic & Sports Car.

Easy answer.

The person acquired the FRP body that was hanging on the wall of another shop (cut in half). He knew it was already widened by
6 inches and was originally set up for a Corvette chassis.

He put the body together and made some molds, put it on the Corvette and there you go. I actually made the part to fit the Cobra windscreen.

Same guy that messed up my Tribute 250 SWB I had shipped to the USA.

No offence Molleur, like I said there is obviously a lot of work gone into it.
When I started my TR project I had several suggestions about chassis options but most were too wide or too long to fit the body onto. The number one reason I went with the 7 style chassis was that it shared the same wheel base and track of the TR so I could retain the body and its proportions without modification. The Giordanengo body is a very close to the original Ferrari dimensions , there was no way I would compromise that just to suit a chassis.

And well done it is!

He bought this just to put together and resell. Not even close to the original.

No worries, I can not be offended.

That looks the dogs. Fantastic work and if it goes for what you asking for then someone else has a bargain. GLWTS or if not enjoy the fruits of your labour for a while.

MOT passed !!

No problems at all, I asked the inspector to do a thorough job as well.

They were quite intrigued at the garage, spent a good 20 minutes talking about the car and its history.
