Default Stoneleigh 2014

Evening fellas. Having taken the Car out today in such fine weather, I am hoping the weather around Stoneleigh weekend will be much the same! On that note, what is the protocol with arriving in you own car? I've only ever been as a eurobox driving punter before. Do you arrive in the normal fashion, and then drive to the correct Marque's area? Or is there a 'special' secret entrance for builders/drivers? I'll be coming in convoy with my mate in his Noble M12, so wondered also if he could get in the arena, even though his is not a 'kit', but it is a very fine British Sports Car none the less. We would be coming down on the Sunday only btw.

Looking forward to being an owner, not a drooled this year.

May the long evenings continue to lengthen.

Rob

Been a while since I've been but I followed the normal flow of traffic, then at some point the organisers wave the kit cars through and you go through the main entrance. Everyone else end ups in various fields around the event. You then drive around until you find a suitable location to park in the grounds, at the MOC stand normally.

Rob, there is a separate entrance for kit cars, so just follow the signs which are clearly seen when you are close to the venue. Join the queue with the others and once in make your way to the Marlin area and park up with the rest.

Thanks guys! Will join the back of the proper queue when I get there. Who else is going? My car is by no means finished, not painted, many little tweaks to do, but I will bring it so you can laugh at my ham-fisted attempt at a Sporster....

Sunday is usually the best day for seeing lots of cars on the stands - Monday can be quite poorly attended - but then its better for going around the trade halls.

But then there is the weather.......................??

If I have a hood by then I might try for Stoneleigh in the Cabrio on Sunday, but the prospect of a 250 mile round trip is a bit scary at the moment! Not sure my domestic recovery service would be willing to rescue me that far from home!

The great British weather will determine my attendance! (I still have no roof or other covering)

If the weather is bad, may not attend either. Haven't had her out in the wet yet. Don't fancy finding the limits of grip en route, or testing the waterproofness of the roof! Showers ok, torrential rain/ lots of standing water may mean a no show unfortunately.

Default Forecast's promising.

So the weathermen say it's going to be cold but dry for the bank holiday weekend. Looks like there'll be a big high pressure sitting over the UK. It sounds like a great opportunity to wrap up and venture out in the Sportster. I've still got 800miles of my 5000 limit for the year to complete!!

So I plan to be at Stoneleigh on Sunday. It's about a 160 mile round trip for me so may stay over on the Saturday night.

Has anyone else made any plans yet??

Nigel

You've got a double award winning car trophy to defend................you'll soon have a complete set of cut glass!

Hope to be there on Sunday - who knows, I may even risk it in the Cabrio if I have my new Inlet Manifold and coolant sensor all refitted by then.

Well, I need to bring the trophies back. As alway, it's down to the members who vote as to who takes them home... I'll wash and polish her up ready, but it's not a forgone conclusion, and I wouldn't want it to be.

Weather looks promising. Should be there by about 12. I think we won't be troubling you for trophies this year GOO. She's not painted, and is still a big work in progress (as they all are ). Going in convoy with a mate in a 6.3 litre Dax Cobra replica. A bit vulgar for my liking......

It was great to get some inspiration to finish our car (no I'm not sticking with hearing aid beige!). Just need my bank balance to coincide with my requirements. Great mix of Sportsters, various finishes. Stolen a few ideas. Was a great drive there and back too. Perfect Marlining weather!
