Damn & Blast.....Days 0ff and what happens! burst pipe in bathroom pissin through the dining room all day!!

Now fixed and back to it....thought i`d tidy the garage up a bit and set things out

Another day in Margate!

I seem to be making very slow progress! Today I mostly used my angle grinder and knotted wire brush!!

Determined to kill those ruddy rust mites slopped on several coats of gloopy Kurust gel followed by two coats Hydrate...die you suckers.

Couldn`t be arsed to climb under the car so up ended it (now got a motorized wheelbarrow). for all those HSE advocates you will have noticed the secondary lump of wood for added safety!

Tomorrow I paint, then hopefully start putting things back together.

Hi Gary,
No colour decided as yet for the body, tho a mate is trying to get me to chrome wrap it...clue there is, I may very well vinyl wrap rather than paint. Must admit I am slightly tempted on the chrome and suffer the shouts of knob! as I drive past

Chassis is not very exciting its smooth black with the odd red bits, diff, springs, shocks, prop, rollbar and gearbox casing (might do the block as well)
Think I may have poisoned myself and breathed in the dust I ground off yesterday as feeling crap today....so late start. The Hydrate 80 takes 24hr to dry before paint so hope to get a coat on later...

Like how they do the taxis? With heat gun, and it shrinks to the shape... I bet the finish of the body work will have to be more perfect than spraying or you'll see the distortion in the film... the chassis looks good, did you have much to do? I was hoping to have a 6 3 1 exhaust manifold, but they don't make one anymore. Must be nice having that garage, so much room. Everytime I go and work on mine I have to ask my Mum (81) to lift the body out, good job its fibreglass.

Basically yes, but they have moved on a lot. Think there is the same amount of prep to do upto primer but no more than I would have to do for paint...its just an idea, as my mate can get the wrap and does it for his business (but not cars)

It is very impressive, i'd like to know what other colours you can get. Have you still got any panels left? Let me know if your mate has a go, i would like to see.

new one on ebay right now listed as a gt6 maifold but pretty sure it wouldnt need much to adapt to a vitesse ?

Yes, it looks like it's for a mark 1 motor so it should also fit 2 litre mk1 Vitesse;Triumph 2000 and possibly 2500 engines.

It sure looks pretty but it's £350, will gain you 2 - 3 hp at best and could even lose engine power without other mods, like the triple Dellorto setup also on ebay.

Well impressed with the Hydrate 80...

Next plenty of coats of Hammertite

Finally, put the diif back on, swing spring and brake pipe, was going to get the rest of the rear back on but Canleys bless them ran out of nuts so only sent the bolts!!!! most helpful.

Thought i`d put the frame on to see what the alignment was like, looks like I need to bolt up and do a bit of jiggling on the rear to make it all fit.

Do you brush the Hydrate 80? Does it neutralise rust?

Hi Gary,

Yep you brush in on in two coats 2nd at 90 deg to first and it "converts" and protects...ive used the Bilt Hamber products in the past and have always been impressed....they do a dipping bath product for smaller items and a gel coat plus lots of others (their polish and clay is bloody good as well) Its reasonable cost and I have left itms unpainted after treating for several years without any rust return.
