Default Another sammio spyder build

Well I thought I would start a new build thread as tidying the garage resulted in starting the sammio spyder. A few more detailed photos to follow.

Have you just put the body shell on to tidy up?

Or are you going to be building the Spyder and Alpha side by side?

Either way, good luck, Paul.

Barber and Paul thanks for the well wishes. The sammio was suppose to be a build over next year. But as I am waiting to start the Alpha I thought I would get the garage organised. I then got inspiration and started with the angle grinder and selling some of the donor car surplus parts.

So to answer your question Paul I do believe I have started both projects and will build them side by side. However I do have a date 30.07.2018 that the Alpha has to be ready for.

So next job is to bolt frame on to the chassis. So I guess the Sammio is taking the lead over the Alpha this week

Default Starting the build

Well Starting the Sammio project before the Alpha I thought I had better put up the Photos of starting with the Herald before I stripped it down and started with the grinder.

Default Grinder

So after lots of looking at previous build threads and some beers. Out came the grinder the next morning. I am going to use the original floor trimmed down with some adjustments to fit the framework I managed to track down the same time I got the body last summer.

So After a 2 good days with the grinder and more than 20 trial fits of the frame and the body, I was happy that the grinding was complete for now. I now know the next job lists to do before the final frame fitting and body fitting.
Trim the arches back
repair the floor and bolt down to the frame.
Fit and pipe up the spitfire fuel tank I now know where i will place it on the frame work.
make the adjustments to the frame to hold the spare wheel
paint and protect the floor in all the hard to reach places.
Luckly I have space now in the garage to work on the sammio as from the last photo the snow came down.

Not much progress on the Sammio. My partner has had 2 snow days of work so nothing done in the garage then. Once she was back at work I managed to trim arches back to allow me to fit on the wire wheels to get a good look at the ride height and level, work the height for the seats. Photos to follow later as on Friday as was asked back to work. So with a bit of luck April should see me on the Alpha as that has some catch up to do.

Finally after some delay your completed Sammio Alpha body is now ready for collection.

Thanks for the photos Mike. The body with doors is going to look great and the sammio spyder, is going to go on the back burner now till the alpha is done.

Default Still Learning

Well my time on the Sammio Spyder has come to a holt this month. But I had some much needed help in painting the chassis before fitted the body to car. The sammio is now in storage as I took delivery of the Sammio Alpha body. More to follow later if i ever get to grips with this photo computer stuff.

Result.

If your ‘support team’ look that happy cleaning an old Herald, you can’t go wrong.

Good luck, Paul.
