Just curious: would these catches fit the Sammio bonnet? I would think the area on the side of the bonnet behind the front wheel would be too narrow..

Besides, the catches bear the 'M' monogram of Giovanni Michelotti, the italian designer of the Herald and Spitfire. I always thought fitting them to a Sammio would be short-changing Gary as the new body's designer...

Of course, if you need the catches for some other purpose, this post is really quite redundant ;-)

I have a set of, ahem, pininfarina badges that I'm planning to fit. Sorry Gary...

I'm planning to fit a pair of catches from a de Havilland Vampire which are chunky enough to be suitably engraved with the Sammio logo.

Maybe Moriniman could fabricate you a couple of adaptors to fit the engines too.

Wotcha me little Belgian matey, good to see you're still active! Are you "popping over" for Exeter again this year?

ATM i have leather bonnet straps and while they do look superb, they don't actually do a very good job at keeping the bonnet shut and secure! Which sort of defeats the point? They're also no good at "pulling in" the bottom edges of the bonnet and i don't really want to have to fit re-enforcing to the edge of the bonnet as i like having a bit of play.

I don't really want to go for the rubber toggle straps, although i have a sneaking suspicion that is what I'll eventually end up with and when looking at other alternatives (all mainly chrome over centre type catches) i remembered the original catches which sadly i sold with my bonnet!

I quite like the idea of messing with peoples minds when they look at my car and there are already a number of features on there from the Vitesse that cause brows to furrow, so i want to have a tinker with a pair of original catches just to experiment.

I know there may be clearance issues, but i'm willing to chop-n-change, cut-n-weld etc. things if i do opt to go with them and TBH they do look quite pretty!
