Default greek 550's

Bit of an odd one here but we have been asked by a Greek guy to create some 550's on a stock length wheelbase with engine round the right way...basically an SVA exempt 550 , if you like.
The engine sticks out and he doesn't want doors , just sculptured openings - these are being aimed at Holiday Hire from what I can gather ...a bit like the Mediterranean Beach Cars they used to build on Minis and Fiats etc in the 60's and a Beach Buggy / Mini Moke sort of concept.

A version could be created with a longer rear scuttle and opening doors or step over sides , I guess as well.....

Thought I would share the photoshopped image I sent George.

Good idea but not great looking. IMO. Why not do a simple 1 piece body and tub design like the old "dune buggies" started by Bruce Meyers back in the 60's. It would be easy to have the whole thing bolt onto the stock chassis have an easy step over height and easy access to the engine. All of the mechanicals can stay in the stock location. Just my 2 cents. Have fun, John

You could always add extra length to the wheelbase, install a mini-bar full of Lambrini and muscle in on the Saturday night taking tasteless tarts to night clubs limo business.

I know Greece is in an economic pickle but surely they can afford to cut down a beetle floorpan or two.

Yes , not my thing either ....I don't think its the economy thats the issue really , I think its the fact they aren't allowed to modify cars very much...

These can be imported and registered as classic cars with an English V5c.

I don't think they are going to be a big seller anywhere outside Greece...

Got it. Trying to work around all of the different regulations is fun, isn't it?!

A long, long long time ago I went to Rhodes on a Club 18:30 holiday when that's what us young'uns did.

On one of the beach party trips there was this middle-aged Greek chap leaning on his rust-free but a bit sun bleached '57 Porsche 356 speedster. I took a bit of a fancy to his car and he took a bit of a fancy to the rather hot red-head that I was with. And, because he was kind of dark 'n' mysterious and clearly had a bit of money the girl, who was pretty much full of ouzo, kinda took a fancy to him too. He then offered me a swap: his car for my girl...

Why, why why why why did I not walk away with the keys? I could kick myself.
