Default Triumph Herald bonnet catches, embossed with "M"

I have a couple of the Herald/Spitfire "side of bonnet" catches, that have been lying around for donkey's years. I am puzzled by the M embossed thereon, what does it mean?

Marcos? Did Marcos use these catches?

Any ideas?

That's the M for Michellotti, who designed both the Herald and the Spitfire!
